SharePoint Designer 2007 (Includes Software Assurance) (English)
The SharePoint Designer 2007 Web authoring tool builds on and improves the technologies of FrontPage, which Microsoft no longer sells but continues to support. Over and above this, it includes tools for developing applications and workflows on the SharePoint platform (SharePoint Server, SharePoint Services, or both).
Although it is geared toward Web sites that make use of the SharePoint platform, SharePoint Designer works with the same types of Web sites as FrontPage 2003. It can be used to create pages based on Web standards such as XHTML and cascading style sheets, and it includes built-in compatibility checkers for these standards. Web sites created with SharePoint Designer are compatible with any browser that supports these standards.
SharePoint Designer can build Web page applications that present and edit data coming from SharePoint lists and document libraries, XML files, Microsoft SQL Server databases, Web services, and enterprise systems. Pages can include reports in the form of Data Views that make use of such capabilities as calculated fields, conditional formatting, and sorting, grouping, and filtering.
The Workflow Designer component of SharePoint Designer has tools for integrating business rules and workflow logic into Web page applications. For example, workflows can add, modify, copy, or remove items or documents; assign tasks to people; route documents for approval; and send email notifications.
