Lync Server Device CAL – Enterprise (Includes Software Assurance)

Description:

A Lync Server Enterprise device client access license (CAL) can be used only in conjunction with a Lync Server Standard device CAL. It authorizes one computer or other device to access additional features in Lync Server, regardless of the number of users (for example, on a shared workstation).

This donation provides one Enterprise device CAL. Enterprise user CALs and Plus CALs (user and device) for accessing enterprise telephony features are also available.

Major Capabilities

The Enterprise CAL provides access to the following features in Lync Server:

•    Audio, video, and web conferencing

•    Desktop and application sharing

•    Room systems

•    Multiple HD video streams

Additional Information

A Plus CAL is required for accessing enterprise telephony features. Plus CALs can only be used in conjunction with Standard CALs.

To enable all features, all three licenses (Standard, Enterprise, and Plus) are needed.

License Only

This license does not require media, license keys, or setup codes.

CALs, ECLs, and management licenses (MLs) offered through PNGO Programme are always for the currently offered version of the server software. However, these licenses can also be used with earlier versions of the server software.

Under the Software Assurance programme, you have the right to install any new release of products covered in the agreement during the term of your coverage.

Windows 8 Pro 64-Bit – Get Genuine

Description:

This donation provides a full operating system license, not an upgrade, offered through Microsoft's Get Genuine Windows Agreement for Small and Medium Organisations programme. Request one license for this product for each computer on which you will install it. It is available only to correct scenarios in which an organisation has an existing PC with one of the following operating systems installed on it:

•    Counterfeit, pirated, or otherwise illegal, unlicensed, or improperly licensed Windows operating system
•    The standard edition of Windows 8
•    Home Premium, Home Basic, or Starter editions of Windows 7 or Windows Vista
•    Home or Starter editions of Windows XP
•    Linux, FreeDOS, or other operating system

Once computers have genuine Windows, users can keep their current operating system up-to-date with the latest service packs and security updates by downloading them with Windows Update.

Windows 8 Pro is the professional edition of the latest Microsoft operating system. Compared to previous versions of Windows, it features enhanced performance, a modern interface with advanced touch support, cloud integration, greater security, and improved power efficiency. This 64-bit version operates on a computer with a 64-bit processor and 64-bit drivers.

Benefits for Organsations

You should consider requesting this product if you need to install the latest Windows operating system on a PC that falls under one of the licensing scenarios described above.

Special Rules for Get Genuine Product Requests

•    Eligible organisations may place only one request ever for Get Genuine products.
•    Requests for Get Genuine products may not contain any other products.
•    During check-out, the Get Genuine Windows Agreement for Small and Medium Organisations must be accepted on behalf of the organisation.

Note: Since Get Genuine products are part of the Windows Desktop Operating Systems title group, an organization's request for them will reduce the number of operating system upgrade products it may request in its current two-year donation cycle.

Software Assurance Not Included

Get Genuine products do not include the Software Assurance benefits that come with most other Microsoft software donations. If an organisation installs a Get Genuine product, that product will not have the benefit of receiving a free upgrade to a newer version of Windows when it is released in the future. However, the Get Genuine product will provide a computer with a legal base operating system upon which Windows upgrade products that include Software Assurance benefits offered through CTX Programme can be installed. Additionally, organisations that request Get Genuine products will be able to downgrade their donation to earlier Windows OS versions at no cost through the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC).

Installing Windows 8

Windows 8 Pro requires significant system resources, as detailed below. It is likely that PCs currently running an operating system older than Windows Vista might not be able to run Windows 8. For a good start on evaluating whether to upgrade, see CTX Programmes Upgrading to Windows 8: Four Questions to Consider.

CTX Programme recommends a "clean install" of the Windows operating system: The process is described in CTX Programmes How to Upgrade to Windows 8.

Important Volume Licensing Information

With Windows 8, your organisation can choose between two types of volume license keys for product activation: a Key Management Service (KMS) license key or a Multiple Activation Key (MAK). A Key Management Service (KMS) key for Windows 8 is available by default on the Microsoft Volume Licensing website; that is, this is the only type of key you will see unless you request a MAK.

A KMS key requires at least 25 computers on a network for activation. If your organisation has fewer than 25 computers, you should request a MAK from the Volume Licensing website after receiving this product.

Obtaining This Product

Installing this product requires installation media and a license key. The license key allows you to use the installation media to install the product on as many computers as you have received licenses for.

Expect three emails:

1.    When your donation request has been approved, CTX Programme will send a message to your organisation email address confirming the number of licenses you have requested.
2.    Microsoft will send an email welcoming your organisation to the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC).
3.    CTX Programme will send an email with information about managing your donation at the VLSC. If you are new to the VLSC, you should wait for this email before you register there.

•    Windows Vista Enterprise, Business, or Ultimate
•    Windows XP Professional or Tablet PC
•    Windows 2000 Professional
•    Windows NT Workstation 4.0

Benefits for Organisations

If you have system administration experience, you can use Windows 8 Enterprise with Windows Server 2012 to:
•    Provide mobile workers with access to your organizational network without the need for VPN
•    Allow employees to securely take a bootable version of their Windows 8 Enterprise desktop on a USB drive to other computers

This allows employees to access a secure, bootable version of their Windows 8 Enterprise desktop on another PC regardless of that PC's operating system. The device must meet Windows 7 or Windows 8 hardware certification requirements.
•    BranchCache: Your organization's PCs can cache files, websites, and other content from central servers running Windows Server 2012 so that content is not repeatedly downloaded across your network. This can minimize network traffic between branch offices and the main office.
•    BitLocker drive encryption: BitLocker encrypts hard drives more quickly to protect sensitive data from being accessed by unauthorized users who come into possession of any of your organisation's computers.

Description:

Windows 8 Pro is the professional edition of the latest Microsoft operating system. Compared to previous versions of Windows, it features enhanced performance, a modern interface with advanced touch support, cloud integration, greater security, and improved power efficiency. This 64-bit version operates on a computer with a 64-bit processor and 64-bit drivers.

This donation provides one upgrade license. Request one license for this product for each computer on which you will install it.

Editions You Can Upgrade From

Only certain editions of the Windows operating system qualify for upgrades under the CTX Programmes Volume Licensing agreements with Microsoft. To install this operating system, you must have a licensed installation of one of the following operating systems on the device where you are installing the upgrade:

•    Windows 7 Enterprise, Professional, or Ultimate
•    Windows Vista Enterprise, Business, or Ultimate
•    Windows XP Professional or Tablet PC
•    Windows 2000 Professional
•    Windows NT Workstation 4.0
•    Windows 98 SE

You cannot upgrade from any Home edition of Windows. If your device doesn't meet the requirements for an upgrade product, you might be eligible for a full operating system license through Microsoft's Get Genuine Windows Agreement for Small and Medium Organisations programme.

Benefits for Organisations

You can use Windows 8 Pro to:

•    Protect computers from viruses and other malware with Windows Defender
•    Support a touch-screen interface when working with individuals who cannot use a traditional mouse and keyboard
•    Restore malfunctioning computers to the base installation with Reset and Refresh functions
•    More easily switch between and access additional display languages in a multilingual environment

Major Capabilities

•    Modern interface: You can navigate the new tile-based interface with a touch-enabled computer or a traditional mouse-and-keyboard setup. You can also choose to view a traditional Windows desktop similar to those in previous versions of Windows.
•    Apps: Apps give you quick access to applications like Mail, Calendar, SkyDrive, Photos, People, and services like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. When not in use, apps running in the background suspend automatically, so they don't consume system resources and power.
•    Cloud integration: Your apps, settings, and files saved to the cloud-based Microsoft SkyDrive will automatically appear on any Windows 8 device after logging in with your Microsoft account.
•    Enhanced security: Windows Defender in Windows 8 includes antivirus capabilities to protect computers from viruses, Trojan horses, rootkits, and other malware, in addition to spyware and adware. The software detects threats in real-time and automatically updates malware signatures.
•    Built-in virtualization: Exclusive to 64-bit versions of Windows 8, Client Hyper-V allows users with virtualization experience to create and manage virtual machines without installing a server operating system.

Installing Windows 8

Unless you are upgrading from Windows 7, this installation requires a "clean install." This means that if the computer has an existing operating system, you must remove all operating system files and applications, install the system, and reinstall the applications. For complete information, see CTX Programmes How to Upgrade to Windows 8.

If your organization has fewer than 25 computers, you should request a MAK from the Volume Licensing website after receiving this product.
