This product includes the Workgroup Edition of System Center Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) 2008 R2 and five server management licenses (MLs.)

VMM is a server application for administration and management of Microsoft and VMware virtual machine guests and virtual machine hosts. It provides network administrators real-time views of resource allocation and allows rapid reconfiguration.

Administrators can access VMM through the Administrator Console or through the Windows PowerShell command-line interface (CLI).

When a virtual machine is deployed, VMM analyzes performance data and resource requirements for both the workload and the host, allowing the administrator to fine-tune placement algorithms to receive optimal deployment recommendations from the software. Tools and wizards simplify converting physical machines to virtual ones (physical-to-virtual, or P2V, conversions) and converting VMware virtual machines to the Microsoft VHD format (virtual-to-virtual, or V2V, conversions).

The VMM Administrator Console provides a real-time central view of all virtual machines and resource usage; resource settings can be changed on virtual machines without interrupting workloads, and virtual machine guests can be rapidly migrated from one host to another to optimize physical resources. For example, if network storage is close to being overallocated in one location, a network administrator can change the allocation.

The Workgroup Edition can be used to manage a maximum of five virtual machine hosts. Organizations requiring support for management of more than five virtual machine hosts through an Administrator Console or CLI should request VMM Enterprise Server Management Licenses, which also include the VMM server software if requested.

VMM can be configured to allow nonadministrators to deploy nonserver virtual environments through a self-service web portal. For example, developers could create an instance of a specific operating system in a virtual environment to test the operation of their software with that operating system. Client MLs license these nonadministrators to use the virtual environments.

Service Pack 1 includes support for Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, new dynamic memory settings for better scripting and administration, and RemoteFX video settings for enhancing the graphical capabilities of virtual machines.

Licenses Included: The Workgroup Edition includes five server MLs.

User and OSE client MLs are also available. A client ML is required for each nonserver OSE managed through VMM.

The Wikispaces Plus Plan offers organisations a hosted wiki that is easy to set up and use. (A wiki is a type of website that allows users to add, remove, and edit all content, very quickly and easily.)

Management features include the ability to:
•    Determine whether an individual must be a member to view and edit the wiki
•    Invite individuals to join
•    Change the look and feel of the wiki

The visual editor uses a toolbar for formatting text, inserting images and files, and creating links within a page. Wiki markup language is also available for those who prefer not to use the editor.

The Plus Plan offers 2 GB storage and allows unlimited users, edits, and messages.

This product is a one-year Plus Plan subscription. An organisation that already has a subscription can use this product to renew its subscription for one year.

Here are some notable features of this product:
•    Pages are fully internationalised, so users can contribute content in any language.
•    Changes and discussions can be tracked with RSS feeds or by email.
•    Users can link and import blog entries and RSS feeds.
•    Wikispam blocking on all spaces keeps spammers away. Private spaces use SSL encryption so that secure data remains secure.
•    Because each version of each page on Wikispaces is saved, users can compare any two versions and go back to a previous version.

Obtaining Your License: When your donation request has been approved, the CTX Programme will send an email to your organisation email address containing a license key and activation instructions.

The System Center Server Management Suite Enterprise is a set of server management licenses (MLs) and software for physical and lightly virtualized System Center servers.

The Enterprise suite allows up to four virtual operating system environments (VOSEs) plus the physical operating system environment (POSE) to be managed by all of the licensed System Center technologies, provided the POSE is limited to supporting the virtualization capability per license.

The suite contains the following licenses:
•    System Center Configuration Manager Server ML - Enterprise
•    System Center Data Protection Manager Server ML - Enterprise
•    System Center Operations Manager Server ML - Enterprise
•    System Center Service Manager Server ML - Enterprise
•    System Center Virtual Machine Manager Server ML - Enterprise

Management server licenses and software are included for the following:
•    System Center Data Protection Manager 2010
•    System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2

A Datacenter Server ML suite is also available. The Datacenter suite is licensed on a per-processor basis and allows an unlimited number of operating system environments (OSEs) on a single physical server to be managed by all of the licensed System Center technologies.

Client ML suites are also available. A client ML suite is required for each nonserver device managed by the applicable System Center technologies.

Acquiring the Installation Media and License Key: MLs do not require media, license keys, or setup codes.  Installation media for DPM and Virtual Machine Manager server software will be shipped to you free of charge.

Note: Although organizations can request multiple MLs, they will be licensed for only one DPM server and one Virtual Machine Manager server installation.

This client management license (ML) suite allows any number of nonserver operating system environments (OSEs) to be managed by a set of System Center server technologies, as long as only one user has access to them. If more than one user has access to a certain OSE or set of OSEs, a client ML suite is necessary for each user.

The suite contains the following licenses:
•    System Center Data Protection Manager User Client ML
•    System Center Operations Manager User Client ML
•    System Center Service Manager User Client ML

Note: With the release of Data Protection Manager (DPM) 2010, all DPM MLs now include the DPM server software and license. Organizations can use this software and license to run only one instance of DPM server, even if they request more than one DPM ML.

An OSE ML suite is also available. The OSE ML suite allows one nonserver device to be managed by the same System Center technologies as the user ML suite. When a device has multiple OSEs, a separate ML suite is required for each OSE managed by the System Center technologies listed above.

Server ML suites are also available. A server ML suite is required for each server device managed by the applicable System Center technologies.

The System Center Server Management Suite Datacenter is a set of server management licenses (MLs) and software for heavily virtualized System Center servers.

The Datacenter suite is licensed on a per-processor basis and allows an unlimited number of operating system environments (OSEs) on a single physical server to be managed by all of the licensed System Center technologies, provided that a Datacenter suite has been acquired for each processor used by the server. A minimum of two per-processor licenses must be assigned to a server device, meaning organizations must acquire at least two Datacenter suites.

The suite contains the following licenses:
•    System Center Configuration Manager Server ML - Enterprise
•    System Center Data Protection Manager Server ML - Enterprise
•    System Center Operations Manager Server ML - Enterprise
•    System Center Service Manager Server ML - Enterprise
•    System Center Virtual Machine Manager Server ML - Enterprise

Management server licenses and software are included for the following:
•    System Center Data Protection Manager 2010
•    System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2

Symantec pcAnywhere provides secure remote access to computers and servers. It lets administrators quickly resolve helpdesk and server support issues and other users stay productive while they work away from the office. pcAnywhere 12.5 adds support for Windows Server 2008.

pcAnywhere allows a remote computer to connect to host computers through several channels, among them local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and the Internet. The remote user can then work on the host computer as if sitting in front of it. The connection also allows files to be transferred between computers. This product includes both host and remote software.

pcAnywhere has several components:

• CrossPlatform allows access to and from computers that are running on Windows, Linux, or Mac OS X operating systems.
• Gateway lets users find and connect to computers that are behind a firewall, router, or other type of network address translation (NAT) device.
• Mobile lets users access computers and servers remotely from a mobile Pocket PC or Pocket PC Phone device.
• Web Remote allows connections through a Java-enabled web browser.

This product is identical to the version sold through the Symantec website and includes the standard support, renewal, and upgrade options available through Symantec with retail products.

Downloading the pcAnywhere Installation File: When your donation request has been approved, the CTX PROGRAMME will send an email to your organization email address containing download instructions. The download size is about 286 MB.

This server management license (ML) suite allows one server device on which managed operating system environments (OSEs) run to be managed by both System Center Essentials 2010 and System Center Data Protection Manager 2010. The managed server may run any number of server OSEs, up to the technical limit of 50.

Client ML suites are also available. A client ML suite is required for each nonserver device managed by both System Center Essentials 2010 and System Center Data Protection Manager 2010.

Expression Encoder 4 Pro is a professional-level encoding tool that enhances and encodes video and simplifies publishing it with Silverlight, Microsoft's cross-platform, cross-browser application framework. Expression Encoder can encode a wide array of video file formats, stream live from webcams and camcorders, and capture activity from PC screens.

Input formats include AVI, WMV, WMA, MOV, and MPEG. Output formats are VC-1 and H.264, with detailed control over the output characteristics.

Within Expression Encoder, users can perform simple edits such as trimming and cropping. They can add branding overlays to videos, add thumbnail markers at various points to aid viewer navigation, include captions and metadata, and choose from a variety of player templates for the encoded video. Output video can be protected with Microsoft PlayReady digital rights management.

A plug-in allows video to be published directly to SharePoint servers.

New in version 4 is support for Microsoft Internet Information Services' Live Smooth Streaming. A Live Smooth Streaming broadcast contains different levels of video quality so that users on different devices can see the level appropriate for their platform.

Free Edition: Microsoft offers a free edition of Expression Encoder for download. It has many of the same features as Expression Encoder Pro, but lacks support for H.264 output, Live Smooth Streaming, and digital rights management. See the Expression website for a comparison chart.

Acquiring the Installation Media and License Key: Installing this product requires installation media and a license key. Installation media will be shipped to you free of charge.

The license allows you to use the installation media to install the product on as many computers as you have received donations for. This quantity is specified in the donation email sent to your organization email address after your eligibility has been verified and your administrative fee has been received. A separate email will give you information about obtaining your license key.

 

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Web Edition is a data storage, management, and reporting platform for deploying and hosting Internet-accessible web pages, sites, applications, and services. It includes the core database functionality of SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard but lacks support for line-of-business applications; data warehousing, data mining, and analysis services; and other advanced functionality, such as failover clustering and certain security, integration, and reporting services.

Like the Standard Edition, the Web Edition supports up to four CPUs (for web workloads only). It can also utilize an operating system's maximum supported memory. Visit Microsoft's website for a comparison of features supported by the different editions of SQL Server.

The management interface is SQL Server Management Studio, a graphical management tool for all SQL Server components with rich scripting capabilities. SQL Server Management Studio includes Policy-Based Management, which can create policies that manage entities on the server, such as the instance of SQL Server, databases, and other SQL Server objects.

SQL Server offers development tools that are tightly integrated with the Microsoft .NET framework and Visual Studio to provide end-to-end application development capabilities.

Here are some notable features of this product:
•    Database availability is increased through log shipping, which automatically backs up, copies, and restores transaction logs on standby servers.
•    Developers can create desktop applications that automatically synchronize with a central database; database publishing tools aid in moving files from the desktop to the web.
•    SQL Server Agent allows administrators to automate and schedule tasks like server backups.

Licensing: This product includes one processor license.

No client licenses are required for SQL Server.

32-Bit and x64 Versions: The installation media for this product is a DVD-ROM that can be used for 32-bit, 64-bit AMD, or 64-bit Intel Xeon platforms. The 32-bit version can be installed on the Windows on Windows (WOW64) 32-bit subsystem of a 64-bit server.
