Windows Server External Connector License (Includes Software Assurance)

Description:

Windows Server is Microsoft's solution for workgroup file, print, and communication servers, as well as for Internet content delivery. If an organization has a large number of authenticated external Internet users accessing Windows Server or utilizing Windows Services, an external connector license (ECL) allows an unlimited number of simultaneous connections.

This donation provides one ECL for Windows Server. For a small number of authenticated external users, a more economical solution might be to acquire client access licenses (CALs) for the maximum number of simultaneous connections expected. Please note that an organization with an ECL still has to acquire CALs for the internal devices accessing the server. No license is required for anonymous Internet users.

Additional Information

CALs, ECLs, and management licenses (MLs) offered through the CTX Programme are always for the currently offered version of the server software. However, these licenses can also be used with earlier versions of the server software.

For additional information about the available editions of Windows Server and the server and client licensing requirements, see the Guide to Windows Server Editions and Licensing.

License Only

This license does not require media, license keys, or setup codes.

Software Assurance

Under the Software Assurance program, you have the right to install any new release of products covered in the agreement during the term of your coverage.

Project Professional 2013.png

Project Standard 2013 (Includes 1 CAL and Software Assurance) (English)

Description:

Project 2013 is project management software. It enables managers to stay informed and control project work, schedules, and finances. This version of Project cannot be connected to Project Server 2013 and integrated into the Microsoft Enterprise Project Management (EPM) solution. Organisations that need these capabilities must use Project Professional 2013.

This donation provides one license and one device client access license (CAL) for Project Server 2013. The device CAL authorizes one computer or other device to access the services of Project Server regardless of the number of users (for example, a shared workstation).  See a summary of Volume Licensing Product Use Rights for specific licensing details.

Benefits for Organisations

If you understand project management concepts, you can use Project Standard to schedule tasks, allocate resources, track progress, and share project information. Project can be used for both large and small projects.

Major Capabilities

Automatic or manual scheduling: Project's scheduling engine can forecast the date of a task based on various factors, like dependencies, duration, and constraints. If automatic calculations aren't required, the user-controlled scheduling option allows for complete scheduling control in a given project, overriding the scheduling engine as well as allowing fields to be empty for uncertainties in planning.
SharePoint synchronization: Project schedules can be published to SharePoint Foundation 2013 task lists, allowing team members to independently update task statuses. Updates from team members automatically synchronize with Project schedules.
Team Planner: The Team Planner allows users to visually drag and drop resources in an interactive resource view to simplify complex resource scenarios. Users can quickly spot unassigned or unscheduled work as well as overload conditions.
Timeline View: An easy-to-read graphical project timeline can be shared with others through email or in presentations while retaining its formatting.

Windows Vista Business Upgrade (32-bit)

Windows Vista Business Upgrade (32-bit) (Includes Software Assurance)

Description:

Windows Vista Business is the business-oriented edition of the previous Microsoft operating system. It should be requested by organisations whose computers cannot support the system requirements of the latest Microsoft operating system, Windows 7. Compared to Windows XP, it features increased ease of use, better security, more search capabilities, and improved wired and wireless networking.

This is an upgrade product. To install this operating system, you must have a valid licence that is not in use on another computer for one of the following operating systems: Windows 2000; Windows XP Media Center, Tablet PC, Professional, or Professional x64. Upgrading from some of these systems requires a "clean install," meaning you must remove all files and applications, install the system, and then copy back the files and reinstall the applications. For the rest of the systems, you can install "in place" as long as you have the latest service pack for the current system. For complete information, see Microsoft's Upgrade Paths page.

Service Pack 1 improves reliability and performance, supports new hardware and emerging standards, and makes it easier for IT administrators to deploy and manage Windows Vista.

Windows Vista Business requires significant system resources, as detailed below.  Although Vista will operate on a computer with the minimum hardware configuration described in the system requirements below, some features, such as the Aero graphical interface, need the recommended configuration.

Important Volume Licencing Information: With Windows Vista, organisations can choose between two types of volume licence keys for product activation: a Key Management Service (KMS) licence key or a Multiple Activation Key (MAK). Organisations will be provided with both types of keys on the Microsoft Volume Licencing website, but they should only use one to active their product.

A KMS key requires at least 25 computers on a network for activation. Organisations with fewer than 25 computers should use a MAK. For more information about deciding which type of key to use, see PNGO Programme’s Guide to Microsoft Volume Licencing Keys.

Acquiring the Installation Media and Licence Key: Installing this product requires installation media and a licence key. Installation media will be shipped to you free of charge.

The licence key allows you to use the installation media to install the product on as many computers as you have received donations for. This quantity is specified in the donation email sent to your organisation email address after your eligibility has been verified and your administrative fee has been received.

Features:
  • Under the Software Assurance programme, customers acquire the right to install any new release of products covered in the agreement during the term of their coverage.
  • Information organisation, search, and sharing is improved. For example, Instant Search finds information anywhere on the computer — even within email — and the save functionality in the new Search Folders feature makes it possible to rerun favorite searches.
  • A smarter, more easily configured, and automatically running Windows Firewall helps protect against many types of malicious software, including software that attempts to initiate outbound connections.
  • Remote Desktop Connection makes it possible to access a PC remotely, whether across an organization’s network or through the Internet from another PC.
  • The Network Center aids in recognizing and automatically connecting to wireless networks and network devices, such as displays and projectors.
